Relax in your private spa pool, pamper yourself with a full body massage, play a game of tennis, wander about the 100acre property, take a walk along 10km of white sandy beach or just sit under a tree or on the beach and read a book.

Catering primarily to couples wanting to relax and unwind in privacy, the three cottages are set well apart in native bushland with modern individual self contained facilities providing guests with a perfect romantic hideaway or home away from home.

Although the cool sea breezes blow in summer and the wood fire glows warm in winter, all cottages are air conditioned to guarantee your comfort at all times.

Each cottage is fully equipped with Austar satellite TV, DVD player, telephone, modern kitchen with full sized fridge and dishwasher in addition to individual spa pool and BBQ on each deck.

Dogs are welcome but must be kept under control, and facilities are available to accommodate horses

Daily newspapers are provided on request and mobile reception is reasonably good.

Melaleuca Retreat is situated on Mitchells Island where the north arm of the Manning River enters the sea (just east of Taree). Recent improvements to the Pacific Highway means that Taree is now less than three hours drive from Sydney's northern suburbs and under two hours from Newcastle.

A poem written in the visitors book by one of our guest says it all:
Leave your cares back at the gate,
Spend time alone with your best mate,
Our three nights here seemed only as one,
